Escaping and/or unescaping source

is the source supposed to be escaped and unescaped when used in script and/or in mysql.
The single and double quotes have to be a problem don't they? Also backslashes, perhaps.

Not sure if this ever needs to be done. Regex'ing the source with preg_match works right now so this is going to be put on hold.
