RESOLVED: created a common listings asp page with most of the code. Then each individual content.asp page that gets scraped by the php only contains the page title variable, the cat and id for the db, and then the include file that's needed. This last part is indeed repetitive code, but it's easier than learning asp syntax and dynamics to code stuff in it.

Finally, there's a content.php page now with whatever unique info is needed on each of the listings page and is called by the routing files just like all other pages.
